When I'm walking outside it's as though my eyes turn into lenses. Instead of seeing everything around me at once, I look at things in chunks that move, expanding and contracting, imagining color and light changes, until I see something that I want to never forget or want to share with others. The last few months I've been experimenting with manipulating where and to what degree color occurs in the finished product in my portraits. I decided this week to apply what I've been discovering to landscapes as well. Though we were asked to post five, I have a horrible time narrowing sets down. Here is as far as I could cut it down this week.

I have a mac Beth but its an older one and have not had any problems. I like the snow drift picture the best as it is right up my ally. I think it's the fourth one to the last on your post. I like how you used the snow drift in 2/3's of the picture instead of the background.
ReplyDeleteI seem to have the worst luck with technology; both computers and phones constantly bite the dust on me for no explicable reason. This is my third mac in three years. My first one didn't work right out of the box. The second they shipped me as a replacement and within 8 months the harddrive fried itself. This one I got in October and I love it, but recently it slows waaaaay down whenever I have iPhoto running. To the point where in 45 minutes I had been able to edit 3 pictures because every time I did anything I would wind up staring at the rainbow wheel for the longest time. If I dare have anything else open or my computer connected to the internet while iPhoto is open, my whole system freezes up and half the time I have to manually shut it down. I thought it was a lack of working memory (iPhoto needs a minimum of 10gb) so I've now severely messed up my iTunes in an effort to run it off my external. Despite that several day hassle and the extra 120gb free space, iPhoto is still not working properly. I'm starting to seriously worry that my photo library is corrupt.......
ReplyDeleteI hate I photo as well. I can't make the pictures any bigger with ought the slide show function. So for most of the time I am trying to sort threw tiny pictures on my desktop and its pretty ugly. Can you pimp my blog sometime because yours is so professional and I get a little bit jealous every time I view it.
ReplyDeleteOh I love iPhoto! This is the first time I've ever had a problem with it even when I had problems with the computer hardware. Given, I've also always been running pretty close to the newest laptop. However I believe there's a bug with the newest OS update as from digging into the forums it seems that there are many people with the same problem ever since around the time OS X 10.6.6 was released.
ReplyDeleteAs for the blog, I admit this is not my first one. I've used them for my photography in the past as well. Since I can't do anything to yours as I don't have administrative power, all I can say is when you have a few hours just sit and fiddle around with the settings and gagets.
I particularly like the outbuildings with the smokestacks. Lots of variety of shapes, classic rule of thirds, the bridge one below it is another fave. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of the extreme diagonal in landscape, in some shots like your last one of the ice, the diagonal works great, but for a straight landscape shot it makes me dizzy.
ReplyDeleteLove the topics shot.
Have you considered taking all your photos off your computer, saving to disk or back up hard drive, and re-installing iPhoto? I find I have to clear out my photo stash every once in awhile because I get too many huge images in there and it slows down a tiny bit at least when I'm scrolling. Where are you in VT? in southern VT, Brattleboro, Brown's computer is very good at trouble-shooting Macs, they are an Apple dealer.
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback. Sorry I made you dizzy, I'll put a warning for you when I've done that as it's common in my work.
I'm trying to avoid having to do that, but if I do wind up needing to I have everything on time machine back up. I'm up in Lamoille County. We've got Small Dog which is great, a little bit of a hike and not free though.
